We stayed at the Walnut Street Inn which is about 100 years old and in the heart of the Springfield historical district. We went to dinner at a nearby Italian restaraunt and basically just enjoyed each others company.
It was very traditional and comfortable and reminded me of happy childhood memories of my grandfathers house,
All of the houses in this area have large porches and nice landscaping..it used to be that folks would sit on their porches and actually interact with their neighbors. I would never want to live in town but if I did I think I would need a big porch like this.

But we ended up staying in the old carriage house which we had all to ourselves. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable couple days.
It's nice to treat yourself to a B&B, even though it's just 'round the corner from you. No need to drive 8 hours to enjoy a B&B stay.
ReplyDeleteIf you're ever in the area of Ironton, MO (about an hour S of Farmington) and want a hoot of a B&B stay, I'd suggest The Parlor B&B. Old "haunted" mansion with a couple of crazy sisters running it now.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like an incredible bed and breakfast place to spend a weekend in! I like how the room is conventionally decorated with classic designs, and how everything around the looks so homey and comfortable. It’s great to see you both having a great time on this little vacation. Cheers!
